Being a kendo club predominately run by and for everyone – we believe that our purpose is related to invigorating the spirit (mind and body) of students to help them accelerate towards their potential.
The Club has members of all ages and backgrounds, and regularly trains 3 – 4 times a week at the Ross Milbourne Sports Hall on campus. Joining UTS Kendo is a fantastic way to build new relationships, meet friends, learn about oneself, and keep fit at the same time!
With kendo translating into the ‘Way of the Sword’ - we believe that life (and kendo) is a continuous journey of learning, discovery and ultimately self improvement.
For this reason, UTS Kendo Club was founded on the principle of "shoshin" – which means to always approach life (and kendo) with a beginner's mind/spirit.
Founded in 2011, UTS Kendo Club first trained at Sydney Boys High School before earning our current dojo at RMSH through our dedication at UniSport Nationals.
We have become one of the strongest kendo clubs in the country since then, with representatives of the UTS Kendo Club going on to compete at UniSport Nationals, the Australian Kendo Championships, and the World Kendo Championships.
